INSTALLATION NOTES - PLEASE READ!

Note: this file is named info.txt and will be located in
your install directory for future reference.

RUNNING RodDNA
On all platforms, RodDNA.jar located in your install
directory is the file you need to execute to run RodDNA.

Simply double click on this file to run RodDNA.
If this does not work, from a command prompt type:
java -jar RodDNA.jar

REGISTRATION/LOGIN AND PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF RodDNA
For version 2.0 you will NOT need to register the software.
Note that previous versions did require a registration
and when you install version 2.0 it will preserve you
older version if it has already been installed.
(You may want to copy any modified model files to the new install
directory)

This program will install RodDNA version 2.0 on your
system.

REQUIRES JAVA VERSION 1.5.0 OR GREATER
This version of RodDNA requires the Java runtime version
1.5.0 or greater.

To determine your systems version of java, do the
following:
1. Select a Command Prompt: Command/Programs/Accessories/CommandPrompt

2. Display the version of Java (if any): java -version

If the java version is not 1.5.0 or greater, you must
download and install a newer version of java.
To do so, open the following link in your browser
(copy and paste or type it in):

http://www.java.com/

Once you have installed it, you can continue with the
installation of RodDNA.

NEW FEATURES
Version 2.0 is exactly the same as the last version, 1.4,
but does not need to be registered.

RodDNA DESKTOP SHORTCUT
Since the new install program is platform independent,
I have attempted to create desktop aliases/shortcuts on
all operating systems. However, you may still need
to create a desktop icon that will execute
the new version of RodDNA vs. running it directly from
the installation directory.

To create the desktop icon (called a shortcut) do the
following:

WINDOWS SHORTCUT
1. Right click your mouse with the mouse pointer on your desktop (do not point to any existing shortcut).

2. Select New then Shortcut.

3. Push the Browse button and select the installation directory that you selected when you installed RodDNA.

4. Select the RodDNA.jar file.

5. Push the Next button and enter a description to your liking, something like RodDNA v1.3 and push the Finish button.

If you would like to change the Java Icon to the RodDNA Icon, please do the following:
1. Locate the new shortcut on your desktop and click the right mouse button with the mouse pointer pointing on the new shortcut.

2. Select Properties then push the Change Icon button, then push the Browse button.

3. Select the installation directory that you selected when you installed RodDNA v1.3.

4. Select the RodDNA.ico file and push the Open button.

5. Now push the OK button, then the next OK button.

You can now simply double click on the shortcut to run
RodDNA.

MAC OS X ALIAS
1. With the finder, locate the folder in which you installed RodDNA v1.3 into.

2. Point to the RodDNA.jar file with the mouse pointer and click the right mouse button (or hold the Control key with the single mouse button).

3. Select Make Alias from the popup menu.

4. Locate the newly created RodDNA.jar alias icon and drag it to your desktop (place your mouse pointer on the alias icon, click and hold the mouse button and drag it to the desktop)

You will now be able to click on the desktop RodDNA alias icon located on your desktop.

LINUX/UNIX
Creating a desktop alias or shortcut varies considerably
between different version of Linux an Unix. Therefore, I
will leave it up to you to determine how to accomplish
this task, but would like you to email me any specific
instructios so I can include them in future release
notes.

Thanks in advance.

FUTURE RELEASES
This will likely be the last release of my Free RodDNA program.

However, my RodDNA Designer program and book is available for those
who like to experiment with creating new tapers, correlating them
to existing tapers, and other advanced design scenarios. It will also
have the latest database of models.

Visit http://www.highsierrarods.com/roddna.html for more information.

I hope you enjoy this important release of RodDNA.

Please direct any comments, ideas, rants to me directly,
